Xiaomi Redmi K30 Ultra Review

Xiaomi has always been popular for its great quality at affordable prices, but if you're familiar with Xiaomi's strategy, you know that the brand usually offers some features to save money. For example, the Redmi K30 Pro does not have a high refresh rate display, which is the most popular feature of 2020.

Xiaomi Redmi K30 Ultra

However, to keep the Redmi K30 Ultra price as mentioned above, Qualcomm has brought MT Dimension 1000 Plus instead of Snapdragon 85.

Is there a balance between performance and price? Or is the ultra powerful model at a better price than the K30 Pro? Let's take a look at the full review-

Xiaomi Redmi K30 Ultra Highlights-

* Amalgam panel has been used in the display.

* The rear panel of the camera has a quad-camera setup.

* It uplifts the Mediatic chipset, known as Dimension 1000+.

* Has a 4500 mAh battery with 33 watt fast charging support.

Xiaomi Redmi K30 Ultra Design-

The glossy design on the back panel adds a different level of aesthetics. According to the camera, the Redmi K30 Ultra supports a quad-camera setup on a circular module with an LED flash at the top of the rear center. Lens and 2MP depth sensor. On the front, the selfie camera has a motorized 20MP pop-up selfie. This window is a great choice because it is unique and gives you more screen space. The front panel displays a 120 Hz refresh rate which helps maintain the phone's temperature in extreme conditions.

Like the others, it has volume and power buttons with card slots. There is also a Type-C charging port at the bottom, but this phone does not have a 3.5mm headphone jack. 213 grams.

This smartphone is available in three colors. One is Moonlight White, Midnight Black and Mint Green.

Xiaomi Redmi K30 Ultra Display

Let’s start with the improved look. It differs from the K30 Pro display in everything except the 120 Hz refresh rate. It supports HDR10 and P3 color gamut. The brightness of the partial peak is also 1200 nits.

Surprisingly, the K30 Ultra did not run as smoothly as the MUI 10 when it came to watching 4K HDR videos in full screen, which was a bit disappointing.

It looks like the chipset has changed a bit to provide very smooth playback. It also warms up the phone a bit while watching 4K videos and sometimes causes abnormal power consumption.

However, the K30 Ultra display provides surprisingly excellent image clarity and detail when playing 4K video. HDR works great for rendering colors and dynamic ranges very close to each other.

The dynamic app animations on the K30 Ultra 120 Hz display are not as smooth as expected. The animation responds quickly to user input, but images are somewhat delayed with noticeable loss. After several attempts, the frame damage problem disappeared with some applications running in the background. Specifically, 120 Hz displays at the system level and 240 Hz system applications provide faster responsiveness and relatively smooth functionality.

Xiaomi Redmi K30 Ultra Memory and internal-

Based on Android 10 MIUI 12, this user interface is powered by an 8-nanometer octa-core processor with MNBed MediaTek Dimension 1000 chipset. So you don't have to worry about the speed of processing, you can improve the user experience.

The base version of the phone has 8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage. Other variants have 8 GB of RAM and higher variants gradually increase the amount of memory. It has 6 GB RAM which is available in the market with 128,256 and 512 GB storage options.

Xiaomi Redmi K30 Ultra Performance-

I didn't expect the MTK Dimension 1000 Plus chipset to provide such a good performance. In theory, the 1000 Plus isn't as powerful as the Snapdragon 75, but it's still a great gaming option.

We personally think it's not a feature of Dimension 1000 Plus, it's probably a matter of Xiaomi software optimization. This is the first Xiaomi A1000 Plus chipset model, the K30 Ultra is not very efficient. I believe we need to improve overall thermostat and battery management.

Due to poor optimization, the K30 Ultra uses the 60 fps limit in almost all games. Therefore, we may not be able to fully enjoy the advanced performance gaming performance at present. The good news is that Xiaomi has promised to fix the frame limit issue in the future K30 Ultra update and optimize the performance of the chipset. However, no specific date has been announced.

Xiaomi Redmi K30 Ultra

Let's see what happens in the tests - you have successfully activated the Dimension 1000 Plus Prime performance in 3 Demark Ultra. The results are very similar to the K30 Pro. The Ultra LPDDR4X comes with Flash and UFS 2.1 storage, while the K30 Pro holds the latest generation of memory and storage. So, technically, the K30 Pro can perform better in terms of data transfer rates and systems.

It is strange for Geekbench 5 that Ultra does not meet the full criteria and does not give any results. I don't think it's understandable to test a game on a model that isn't currently optimized for the game; But it should perform well in at least a few games. This way you can understand why you are constantly saying that your phone needs better optimization.

The phone has enabled 120 fps on Pubji Mobile with maximum graphics settings, but I've only been able to start the game at 60.21 fps.

In the stress test of Nimian legends, the model can start an average of 39.6 frames per second playback. If you remember, it has a Dimension 1000, but IQO Z1 with a higher 144 Hz screen is better to play. So we don't think the chipset is a big limitation here. Even at 60 frames per second, the model warmed up a bit during the gaming test.

Xiaomi Redmi K30 Ultra Camera Quality - Unexpectedly the most surprising thing about the K30 Ultra is the quality of the camera.

The 64MP main camera is under the supervision of a Sony IMX82 sensor. We have seen with an example that the main camera can provide more accurate exposure, while the K30 Pro can sometimes drop details and lose detail in the final brightness. In particular, the Ultra Key camera, which uses HDR and AI color, can provide a great dynamic range that can capture detail in both light and dark areas.

For example, the Ultra handles clear skies better, while the K30 Pro only loses sky detail. Also, the Ultra lens has a relatively accurate white balance in most situations, while the K30 Pro's white balance is generally cool and not adequate for real-world situations.

Both K30 models are equipped with 13 MP wide-angle camera. The Ultra has a slightly narrower field of view but a larger aperture. In Auto HDR mode, the performance is like the main camera.

Xiaomi Redmi K30 Ultra

Ultra wide-angle specimens have surprisingly much more dynamic ranges than Pros. The white balance is better known. With a larger aperture, the Ultra K30 Pro seems to have better performance in better brightness in low light conditions with the same recording settings as the Pro. However, most wide-angle cameras have the same problem. Poor detail and unstable corner noise control.

The image in the center is always much better than the angles. On top of that another advantage of the Ultra is the ability to remove scratches from the edges. This is another highlight of the new camera combination.

Compared to the Pro-Macro, the Ultra has a faster focusing speed and slightly narrower focus. Ultra macro photography allows for more stunning colors. However, the macro only has a small 5MP sensor, making it practical for use in low light conditions. Both have only electronic image stabilization but no solution for OIS Jit, so both require an object.

For an evening event, picking the winner is really hard. Night mode looks similar to HDR mode. It is not recommended to use a dedicated night solution for night time applications due to recording options. ISO and shutter speeds are not very different from those used in normal mode. Samples recorded in Ultra Night mode did not actually improve in terms of noise reduction and image details. Xiaomi still seems to have a lot of work to do to fix the night mode.

The Mi 10 Ultra is not as good at edge detection and vertical camera distance detection. Aperture setting does not work, especially in contrast to a complex background.

Xiaomi Redmi K30 Ultra Battery life and other features-

Powered by a 4500 mAh battery, the phone is powered by a 33-watt wired fast charger and combines fast charge 4+ and power distribution technology to charge more.

The Ultra and Pro use the same 4500 mAh battery charging solution, but the full charge test shows that the ultra charging efficiency has improved somewhat. The Ultra took about 8 minutes to fully charge, the Pro took a little longer to charge, and finally about 64 minutes Took. Overall, there are several improvements to the K30 Ultra compared to the K30 Pro.

Xiaomi Redmi K30 Ultra

Another Ultra improvement is the dual stereo speakers. The sound improvement is more impressive than the individual Pro speakers, but the Mi 10 balance speaker is not as good as the Xiaomi Redmi K30 Ultra, it has trendy features, under-display fingerprint sensor, latest COMS, NFC and decent sound quality.

Xiaomi Redmi K30 Ultra Good side-

* Large battery with a decent fast charging option

* High-end performance chipset

* Studio level sound quality

* Thin bezels on the screen

* 120 Hz refresh rate.

Xiaomi Redmi K30 Ultra The bad side-

* Risk of damage to pop up camera

* Low brightness configuration

* No wireless charging and no reverse charging

* No 3.5mm headphone jack.

Xiaomi Redmi K30 Ultra Last comment-

The Xiaomi Redmi K30 Ultra is one of the affordable 5G phones released this year. Compared to the Pro version, it has a refresh rate, 1000 plus chipset and faster loading. The rest of the features remain unchanged.

Xiaomi Redmi K30 Ultra

All in all, the K30 Ultra has a number of improvements over the K30 Pro. This is one of the best options in terms of price. However, for a product that is celebrating its tenth anniversary, the improvement of daily life is not as important as our expectations. It looks like an unfinished product that could potentially offer a better user experience, such as a 120 Hz display and optimization of new chipsets. On the other hand, the performance of the camera compared to the K30 Pro is surprisingly impressive. The presence of the K30 Ultra in the global market is still a mystery.
